Daniel Băluță, the mayor of Sector 4 and the PSD candidate for the Capital City Hall, will sign today the order to start the works for the extension of the M4 metro line, between Gara de Nord and Gara Progresul. This project, the largest infrastructure project in Bucharest in the last 35 years, has a value of 3.5 billion euros, non-reimbursable European funds.

14 new stations will be built on a route of approximately 11 kilometers, crossing sectors 1, 4, 5 and the commune of Jilava. The new stations will meet modern security and accessibility standards. The extension will increase the metro network by 21.87% and is estimated to generate an additional 58.6 million trips annually. The project will create over 5,600 jobs during construction and will require 900 employees for operation.
