A 35-year-old woman from Bucharest was arrested by the police after she attempted to take revenge on her ex-husband by sending threatening messages, which she staged. On January 5, 2026, she reported to the police that her ex-husband was threatening her with acts of extreme violence, including against their child, even though the court had issued a protection order against him.

The investigation revealed that the woman had purchased a prepaid SIM card and used a messaging app to send threatening messages to her own phone number. The messages contained serious threats, including references to violence against the ex-husband and the child. The woman was detained for 24 hours and placed under judicial control for 60 days, being accused of misleading the judicial authorities.
