Romania may join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) at the beginning or during the course of next year, depending on the pace at which the internal process advances, announces Luca Niculescu, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"There are countries with strong economies – 70% of production and global trade take place in OECD networks, as well as 90% of foreign direct investments. We see, therefore, how important this organization is, which we hope will welcome Romania at the beginning of next year or during the course of next year, depending on how we move.

It is the only organization in which the 38 member states provide access to internal data across a very wide range of fields. First of all, this data is reliable – no one contests OECD data, and we see this in our case, in Romania, regarding the most well-known of them, such as those about education. We can enjoy them, we can sometimes be saddened by them, but we do not contest them." said the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Luca Niculescu.
