The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced an increase in the water tariff by 0.85 lei per cubic meter, as part of an investment program targeting 221 kilometers of water and sewage networks in all six sectors of Bucharest.

The General Council of Bucharest Municipality (CGMB) approved on Friday, August 28, an addendum to the concession contract concluded between Bucharest Municipality and Apa Nova, which provides for a new investment program in water and sewage infrastructure, worth nearly 500 million euros, which will include measures to adapt to climate change. The addendum also includes the increase in the water tariff by 0.85 lei per cubic meter.

According to Mayor Ciprian Ciucu, nearly two-thirds of the funds will be allocated to sewage, including 70 kilometers of water networks and 147 kilometers of sewage, essential for preventing floods.

Ciucu emphasized that the calculated increase for a family is somewhere around 28 lei, but we consider it manageable and it will bring long-term benefits.
