DNA: Waldevar Energy Director Placed in Preventive Detention in a €450,000 Bribery Case

The general manager of Waldevar Energy SRL, Cristian Theodor Dragomir, and Slovak businessman Gregor Hudohmet were remanded in custody for 30 days in a private-sector corruption case. The Bucharest Tribunal ordered the measure on September 26, 2026, at the request of the DNA.

According to prosecutors, between February and September 2026, Hudohmet allegedly demanded 450,000 euros, plus VAT, representing 2% of the value of a contract concluded in July between two companies. The contract concerned the construction of a battery energy storage system with a power output of 55 MW and a capacity of 220 MWh, in the municipality of Gheorgheni.

The DNA claims that Dragomir allegedly supported the Slovak businessman and repeatedly pressured the administrator of the company required to make the payment. To conceal the bribe, the money was allegedly to be paid under a referral contract with a success fee.

The project is being developed by the Slovak company GEN-I Sonce, while Waldevar Energy is the contractor for the works. The investigation continues to establish all the persons involved and each person’s participation. The case is among the few private-sector corruption cases made public in Romania.
