Vlad Pascu, the driver who caused a fatal accident in the resort of 2 Mai, has been definitively sentenced to 10 years in prison for manslaughter, after driving under the influence of drugs and killing two young people. After only three months in prison, Pascu filed an appeal in cassation to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, requesting a reduction of the sentence. His lawyers contest the conviction, citing the lack of an expert report to establish the effects of drugs on driving ability and the failure to consider the reports made by Pascu to DIICOT, which could have led to a reduction of the sentence. The Constanța Court of Appeal upheld the 10-year sentence, and the parents of the victims believe that the sentence is insufficient and reflects inequalities in the judicial system. The accident resulted in the death of two people and the injury of three others, and Pascu left the scene of the crime, being later caught by the police.
