One day after the formation led by Sorin Grindeanu voted to withdraw support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Victor Ponta proposed opening discussions with AUR, stating that "a crooked peace is better than a just war." The former PSD leader emphasized that a reconciliation between PSD, PNL, and UDMR is possible. Although he met with Sorin Grindeanu, Ponta stated that the discussions did not address the political crisis, but rather parliamentary issues.
He criticized Prime Minister Bolojan's decision to grant power to USR in the Government, considering it a mistake. Claudiu Manda, the general secretary of PSD, stated that the withdrawal of PSD ministers will not cause turbulence, and Sorin Grindeanu might resign from the position of president of the Chamber of Deputies. In PNL, factions are already forming for the establishment of a new parliamentary majority, with some leaders calling for discussions with the Opposition, while others propose renegotiating the governance protocol with PSD.
