Former Prime Minister Victor Ponta reacted harshly after the revelations in the Recorder documentary about the state of justice, accusing the current government coalition of reigniting political conflicts to distract attention from the economic difficulties faced by Romanians. Ponta emphasized that Romanians will lose approximately 10% of their income due to inflation and will not receive compensation in 2026. He criticized a small part of the population that benefits from privileges, in contrast to the majority that is facing economic problems. Ponta also mentioned the protests in Victory Square, where thousands of people demanded the resignation of officials, including the head of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, Lia Savonea. He highlighted that the documentary brought to light the issues within the judicial system, including cases of corruption and political influence. Over 800 magistrates signed a message of solidarity with colleagues who made revelations, demanding real reforms in justice to ensure its integrity and independence.
