Victor Micula, a millionaire sentenced to 3 years and 1 month in prison for illegally accessing the databases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), will have his appeal judged at the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal, after the High Court of Cassation and Justice accepted his request for a change of venue.

In this case, Victor Micula is being tried together with four police officers from Oradea, who were also sentenced for their involvement in the illegal access of data. The investigation was carried out by the Anti-Corruption Directorate (DGA) Bihor, which discovered that Micula and the police officers had turned the IT systems of the MAI into a personal search engine. They are accused of providing internal information and allowing Micula direct access to the MAI terminals, thus facilitating the acquisition of data about individuals and vehicles. After the initial conviction from the Bihor Tribunal, the case was sent to the Oradea Court of Appeal, but it will now continue in Alba Iulia.
