The leader of the USR senators, Ștefan Pălărie, announced that the party will decide in the coming days who will take over the Defense portfolio, most likely after the elections on December 7. Currently, the Government is functioning without blockages, and the responsibilities of the ministry are temporarily taken over by Radu Miruță. Pălărie emphasized that, in the case of drone interceptions, decisions are made by the mission commander, not by the Minister of Defense.

Consultations for appointing the new minister will also include President Nicușor Dan. Among the possible candidates for this portfolio are Bogdan Rodeanu, Alexandru Dimitriu, Mihnea Motoc, Dragoș Tudorache, Sorin Șipoș, and Nicu Fălcoi, but Cătălin Drulă has been excluded from discussions. The final decision will be made by the statutory bodies of the party.
