Corneliu Gașpar, a former professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Life Sciences 'Ion Ionescu de la Brad' in Iași, has been sent to trial for rape under aggravating circumstances, being accused of abusing his authority in the university premises. Gașpar has been in preventive detention since December 16 and risks a sentence of 7 to 12 years in prison if found guilty. The criminal complaint was filed by students, and the university has initiated an internal investigation, resulting in the professor's dismissal. The Ethics Committee confirmed the acts of rape, although no concrete forensic evidence was found. The university stated that it distances itself from any form of abuse and supports legal actions. Gașpar taught the subject 'Ethics and Academic Integrity.'
