Ukraine will annually celebrate the Day of the Romanian Language on August 31, according to a decree signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky. This decision aims to strengthen understanding and mutual respect in the relations between Ukraine and Romania, as well as to encourage intercultural dialogue.
Although Ukraine did not have a celebration dedicated to the language of a neighboring country until now, there is the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture, celebrated on May 24. Additionally, in 2025, events were held dedicated to the Day of the Crimean Tatar Language and Literature, but without official recognition. Recently, Ukraine also established the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity, thus demonstrating its commitment to diversity and cooperation.
