The Day of the Romanian Language was celebrated on Saturday, for the first time, in Cernăuți, with the participation of representatives of the Romanian authorities, the Romanian diplomacy in Ukraine, and the local Romanian community. Officials laid wreaths at the statue of Taras Shevchenko and at that of Mihai Eminescu, and candles were lit at the Memorial of Heroes in the Central Square. Present at the event were the Romanian ambassador to Kiev, Victor Micula, the general consul of Romania in Cernăuți, Irina Loredana Stănculescu, and other officials.

Ambassador Micula emphasized the importance of this historic moment, mentioning that Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine celebrate the Day of the Romanian Language on the same day, following the decree signed by President Zelenski in March. The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Culture, Diana Băciuna, thanked the Romanian community in Ukraine for their efforts to preserve and promote the Romanian language. President Zelenski's decree was an important step for the development of cultural and linguistic relations between the two countries.
