Csoma Botond, the leader of the UDMR deputies, stated that the bill regarding the autonomy of the Szeklerland is not a threat to Romania and does not imply secession. In the context of a possible resumption of discussions on this topic, he emphasized that UDMR has always supported this project in Parliament.
Although the project has been submitted in the past, Botond expressed reservations about obtaining a consensus in the governing coalition, mentioning that Romanian society is not ready for such autonomy. He emphasized that, without a broader agreement in society, it is difficult to make a legislative decision in this regard.
