Kelemen Hunor, the leader of UDMR, stated that the current political coalition is incapable of making decisions, emphasizing that discussions will resume next week, after the elections in Bucharest. He warned that without completing the administrative reform by December, the construction of the 2026 budget will be impossible. Hunor proposed a 10% reduction in the number of employees in the central administration, without affecting salaries, to increase efficiency.
He also commented on the accountability regarding the magistrates' pension law, mentioning the risks of a potential attack at the Constitutional Court. Hunor emphasized that, in the event the law is contested and rejected, the coalition will face a major political problem. He explained that the recent changes to the law, including extending the transition period from 10 to 15 years, are the result of negotiations and that it is essential for all parties to agree to reach a compromise.
