Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca implements social protection measures to support students who do not obtain places in their own dormitories. They can benefit from accommodation subsidies of 2,244 lei per month, granted based on an application at the beginning of the academic year. UBB aims to ensure access to education for all students, especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
To benefit from subsidies, students must be enrolled on a budget, have passed the previous year, be no older than 29 years, and come from low-income families. In the academic year 2025-2026, 11 students applied for these subsidies, with a total allocated amount of 25,000 lei.
UBB also offers tuition fee discounts, social scholarships, and other forms of financial support, totaling over 2.2 million lei in discounts in the last three years. The university is committed to continuing to support students through social assistance measures and facilities, maintaining a constant dialogue with student representatives to respond to their needs. UBB, with an academic tradition of 445 years, is among the most prestigious universities in Romania, having a complex academic profile and a community of approximately 55,000 people.
