On November 13, 2025, two students from Bucharest skipped biology class and called 112, claiming that one of them had fallen into a lake and was in danger of drowning. The false call prompted the rapid mobilization of six police, fire, and ambulance crews, who searched the indicated area. The police discovered that the two minors had skipped school and that the call did not correspond to reality. Following the incident, their families were fined according to Law no. 61/1991 for the improper supervision of children. The Capital Police emphasized the seriousness of false calls to 112, which can affect interventions in real emergency cases, and urged parents to talk to their children about the responsible use of the emergency number.
