The police officers of the Organized Crime Fighting Service in Arad, in collaboration with the prosecutors of DIICOT - Arad Territorial Office, documented the activity of two men suspected of cultivating a cannabis plant, established in 2026, on the banks of the Mureș River, in the outskirts of the Lipova locality.
The two were caught in the act on August 14, while tending to the plants. Following the intervention, 101 cannabis plants were discovered, with a total weight of approximately 65 kilograms. The plantation was well camouflaged, hidden among vegetation and equipped with maintenance equipment, including a generator and a surveillance camera. Additionally, quantities of cannabis and cocaine were found on the two men.
The police conducted searches at their homes, where they discovered tools and substances associated with illegal activity. On August 14, the DIICOT prosecutors ordered the detention of the two, and subsequently, a proposal for preventive arrest for 30 days was made. Investigations continue under the coordination of DIICOT.
