The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that it will deploy fighter jets in Estonia between August and November 2026, followed by a rotation in Romania between December 2026 and March 2027, as part of NATO's air policing missions. Turkey has played an active role in these operations aimed at protecting the airspace of allies during peacetime. Previously, Turkey has deployed aircraft in Poland and Romania. Additionally, NATO sources indicated that Turkey has been requested to send F-16 jets to patrol the airspace over the Baltic countries, in the context of strengthening the alliance's defense in response to Russia's actions. The airspace of the Baltic countries is controlled by NATO, with aircraft being deployed on rotation in Lithuania and Estonia since 2004 and 2014.
