Former President Traian Băsescu expressed concerns regarding the risks of the conflict expanding in the Middle East, especially if military operations continue. He mentioned that, in the case of Europe and the United States, the risks do not come from a direct attack by Iran, but from the activation of dormant terrorist groups that could generate attacks. Băsescu noted the surprise of Iran's reaction, which launched attacks on seven countries in the region, and stated that the mission to change the leadership in Tehran has been partially fulfilled, with many Iranian officials eliminated.
He also discussed the expectations of Russia, China, and North Korea, which have not been actively involved until now. Băsescu emphasized that as the conflict prolongs, the risks of the war expanding in the Middle East increase, considering the positions of neighboring countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan. He concluded that Iran has demonstrated it has better resources than anticipated, complicating the situation in the region.
