The emergency response team of the Sibiu County Public Service Salvamont intervened in the Bâlea area to assist a group of tourists who were stranded in the Bâlea cable car due to a malfunction.
Dan Popescu stated that the situation is not serious, and the tourists are safe, being assisted both by the cable car staff and the mountain rescuers. The tourists are in both cabins of the cable car, at altitude, and will be accompanied during the journey to Bâlea Cascadă.
The Bâlea cable car provides transport between Bâlea Cascadă and Bâlea Lake, at over 2,000 meters altitude in the Făgăraș Mountains, and access can also be made by road, via Transfăgărășan.
