Tourist from Ukraine attacked by bear on Transfăgărășan

A tourist aged 18 from Ukraine was attacked by a bear on Monday evening, around 6:30 PM, in the Argeș town of Arefu.

The young woman suffered a bite wound on her right leg and was initially assisted by mountain gendarmes, who provided first aid. Due to language barriers, the gendarmes were unable to obtain details about the circumstances of the attack.

Shortly after, a SMURD crew arrived at the scene, assessing the young woman's state of consciousness and cooperation. She was transported to the hospital for further medical care. The incident highlights the risks of encountering wildlife in mountainous areas.
