Timișoara will celebrate on Saturday, at 12:00, 36 years since the declaration of the first free city from communism in Romania, through a symbolic moment called ''the sirens of freedom''. This event marks the general strike of 1989, when workers occupied the Opera Square, contributing to the fall of the communist regime.
December is an important period for the city, dedicated to commemorating the martyr heroes of the 1989 Revolution. The Timișoara City Hall invites citizens to participate in this tribute, reaffirming the values of freedom and respect for human rights. Starting at 18:00, there will be a concert Rock for Revolution, featuring bands such as Vița de Vie and Sarmalele Reci, continuing the tradition started in 2010.
