The mayor of Timișoara, Dominic Fritz, said Monday that “the Revolution is not a piece in a museum,” but part of the daily lives of people fighting for a fair Romania. He made the statement after the political event “Timișoara. The Revolution Continues,” held Sunday at CRAFT, as his term in office is due to end in a few days following the entry into force of the ANI Law.
Fritz thanked the participants and said he would not stop, even if he no longer held the office of mayor. He argued that Timișoara must continue to speak about the Revolution and change, rejecting criticism from some PSD members.
Alfred Simonis, president of PSD Timiș, accused the USR and Dominic Fritz of using the Revolution at a political event. Simonis said that Fritz could challenge his legal situation and make accusations, but had no right to conflate his own case with Timișoara and, above all, with the 1989 Revolution. Images from the Revolution were also shown at the event.
