Timișoara is affected for the second consecutive day by dense smoke and a burning smell, coming from the wildfires in Serbia, where thousands of hectares have burned. The Timiș Public Health Directorate issued a warning, emphasizing that pollution can worsen respiratory and cardiovascular problems, urging the population to keep closed windows and avoid outdoor activities. Recommendations include limiting travel and wearing protective masks.
Firefighters have confirmed that there are no fires in Timișoara, and the smoke most likely comes from the Dubovac area in Serbia, where 45 wildfires have occurred.
Serbia has requested help from Russia to combat the fires, after European Union resources proved insufficient. The wildfires in Serbia have severely affected natural reserves, and local authorities continue to monitor the situation.
