The Epiphany, the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord, was celebrated on Tuesday by thousands of believers across Romania. Priests from churches and monasteries officiated services for the sanctification of the waters, and the faithful were invited to take home Great Agheasma, with over 300,000 bottles prepared, thus avoiding the crowds of previous years.
In Constanța, thousands of people participated in the water sanctification service, led by the Archbishop of Tomis, His Eminence Teodosie, who threw crosses into the water. The weather was unusually warm, at around 13 degrees Celsius. In Bucharest, the service was officiated by Patriarch Daniel, and in other cities, such as Buzău and Galați, the faithful participated in processions and traditional rituals. Each community had its own customs, from the sanctification of the boats to the throwing of the cross into the water.
