The General Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced that the rehabilitation works of the building in Rahova, affected by the gas explosion, will be postponed by three weeks or "at most one month" for the installation of seismic sensors in the existing cracks.

The sensors will be installed in the apartments of five blocks in the area, as well as at the Theoretical High School "Dimitrie Bolintineanu". This initiative aims to monitor any damage caused by the works.

The mayor explained that the sensors, similar to glass blades, will help identify the growth of cracks, thus providing a basis for potential compensation.

The safety works of the building will begin after the installation of the sensors and will last approximately 50 days, thus allowing residents access to their belongings, nearly 10 months after the explosion in October 2025.
