The Employees' Union of the Government's Working Apparatus initiated a Japanese-style strike on Monday, demanding the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu and Minister of Economy, Irineu Darău.
The action was triggered by statements from Oana Gheorghiu, who labeled the union as "a political tool" and refused to resign following the Schwarz Digit scandal. Union members accuse the two officials of using their authority to favor a private operator. The protest comes after emails were revealed in which Gheorghiu requested information about the products of the German group Schwarz.
Additionally, union members are calling for an investigation into the mandates of the two to determine if they acted in their own interest. They emphasize that they will not accept being disdained or turned into political pawns and demand transparency and public accountability.
