A 6-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother died after falling into a river in Chirpăr, Sibiu. DGASPC Sibiu is investigating the family's situation.

A tragedy occurred in the locality of Chirpăr, Sibiu County, where a 6-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother died after falling into a river. The incident happened while the children were playing outside, and the ice on the surface of the water broke, causing them to fall into the water. The parents were alerted by another child who saw them in the river, and rescue teams intervened quickly. Unfortunately, the girl was found in cardiac arrest and did not respond to resuscitation efforts, and her brother was later found and also declared dead.

The General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) Sibiu has begun complex checks on the family, considering that they had previously lost two other children due to pneumonia. DGASPC stated that, although the situation is treated as a possible risk situation, automatic separation of the remaining child from the family is not required. The institution will provide psychological support to the parents and the remaining child, within a counseling center. The investigation continues to determine the exact circumstances of the deaths of the two minors.
