The protest organized on Thursday in front of the Cotroceni Palace brought together dozens of unionists from four major trade union confederations, who are calling for the intervention of the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, in mediating the conflict with the Government.
They are demanding an increase in the minimum wage, protection of purchasing power, and decent working conditions in the public and private sectors, in the context of the accelerated degradation of working and living conditions. The unionists accuse the austerity measures that affect social inequalities and demand the cessation of policies that put pressure on workers. The protest also aims to stop abusive layoffs, ensure compliance with labor legislation, and regulate energy prices.
