Employees of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) are protesting on Wednesday, starting at 10:00 a.m., outside the Finance Ministry. Union members are demanding full payment of outstanding salary entitlements established through final court rulings, as well as the elimination of pay disparities within the institution.

The Bucharest National Institute of Statistics Trade Union (SINSB) is requesting payment of the installments corresponding to 2025 and 2026 and the alignment of the INS employees’ pay scale with that applicable to staff of the General Secretariat of the Government (SGG).

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the authorities have postponed payment of some entitlements won in court. Union members claim that the delay affects employees’ financial stability and the institution’s proper functioning.

SINSB representatives consider failure to respect rights recognized by the courts unacceptable and say that INS employees have the lowest salaries among public institutions. The protest is taking place amid repeated demands to implement final rulings and correct pay disparities.
