Employees of IAR Ghimbav held a protest rally on Monday at the company’s headquarters, dissatisfied with the increase in the allowances of the Board of Directors’ members, while the indexation of workers’ wages to the inflation rate remains blocked by the Government.
All of the company’s employees took part in the protest. According to trade union leader Suba Arpad, the wage indexation had been negotiated in June 2026, but its implementation has not yet been approved.
The trade union representative said that the company and IAR employees are in an “unpleasant and rather delicate” situation. He pointed out that the company’s labor workload stands at below 20%, while Romania is allocating 16.8 billion euros for armament, including the purchase of military helicopters.
The protest highlights employees’ dissatisfaction with the gap between the increase in management’s income and the blocking of the wage rights negotiated for workers. Employees are calling for the agreement on wage indexation to be honored and for the company’s economic and operational situation to be clarified.
