The Brașov Local Council has adopted a decision whereby the tourist tax paid by visitors will increase fourfold in 2026. Thus, the tax for tourist promotion will be raised to 7 lei/tourist/night, while the Salvamont tax will reach 5 lei/tourist/night, totaling 12 lei for each day of stay. This is the second modification of these taxes this year, after it was decided in April that the taxes would be calculated as a fixed amount of 10 lei/stay/person. Until now, tourists were paying only 3 lei/night, with the promotion tax being 1 leu/day/tourist since 2020, and the Salvamont tax being 2 lei/day since 2022. The taxes are collected by accommodation units and transferred to the local budget of Brașov municipality.
