The Parliament has adopted a bill that modifies the calculation formula for the car tax, which will significantly affect owners of hybrid and electric cars. For example, a hybrid SUV with a 2.5-liter engine will have a tax of 992 lei, compared to 70 lei in 2025. Cars with internal combustion engines will be taxed between 1,076 lei and 1,100 lei, depending on the Euro standard. Owners of electric cars will pay an annual tax of 40 lei. These changes are part of the commitments made under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and local authorities will publish the exact tax values in each city.
