Sheep farmers who have protested this morning in front of the headquarters of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) left, around 12:00 PM, towards Victory Square, where they will remain, according to the schedule, until 7:00 PM
The protesters are demanding the resumption of sheep and goat exports, especially to Arab countries, waving banners with messages such as "Don't let us lose everything." During the protest, there were incidents of violence, and the gendarmes intervened with tear gas after participants attempted to force their way into the ANSVSA headquarters. The shepherds are demanding the lifting of the ban on sheep exports, compensation for economic losses, vaccination against anthrax at the state's expense, and accountability for those responsible for managing the crisis.
The protest is organized by the Corbu Vaslui Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders and the Regional Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders Voiniceni, with the support of the Romovis Federation. The interim Minister of Agriculture has requested flexibility from the European Commission to facilitate exports and provide compensation to affected farmers. The European Commission has extended the ban on sheep exports from Romania until December 31, 2026.
