The Shahed-type attack drone that flew over the Republic of Moldova on Tuesday and briefly entered Romania’s airspace returned to Moldovan territory and crashed in a sunflower field near the village of Mihăilenii Vechi, Rîșcani District.

Following the impact, four fire outbreaks started. The Police of the Republic of Moldova announced that there were no injured people and asked locals not to approach the area. Specialized services were sent to the scene to secure the perimeter, establish the circumstances, and manage the fires.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense in Chișinău stated that it was the same Shahed-type drone. According to Moldovan authorities, the aircraft illegally entered the country’s airspace from Ukraine, crossed the Transnistrian region, then headed toward Chișinău and Ungheni before reaching Romania.

The drone subsequently returned from the direction of Iași. It disappeared from radar in the area of Cobani, reappeared near the city of Drochia, and was then lost again in the Sturzovca area, in Bălți. The airspace in the Central region was reopened at 17:39.
