The Mayor of Sector 2, Rareș Hopincă, wants to create his own company for infrastructure works so that employees from the city hall can be transferred to the new structure, after the Emergency Ordinance of the government led by Ilie Bolojan, which will lead to the elimination of tens of thousands of positions, was published in the Official Monitor.

On the agenda of the Local Council meeting of Sector 2, on Thursday, there is a project that provides for "the establishment of a joint-stock company with the object of activity being infrastructure works".

Ionuț Pucheanu, the mayor of Galați, warned that this way the administrative reform can be circumvented, by moving personnel from one place to another without actually reducing the number of employees.

Hopincă confirmed that he will have to lay off 130 employees, but emphasized that transferring them to the new company could improve efficiency and response time in managing infrastructure works. He argued that all major city halls in Romania operate similarly, without increasing expenses.
