PSD President Sorin Grindeanu announced on Monday, after the meeting of the party’s National Permanent Bureau, that he would propose to Prime Minister Luca Niculescu that the Government assume responsibility for two major reforms, which are to be adopted by March 2027: the reorganization of local administration and the restructuring of the government apparatus.
The first reform concerns the administrative-territorial organization and would include merging small localities, while maintaining public services for citizens. According to Grindeanu, Dragoș Benea will be responsible for coordinating this project on behalf of the PSD.
The second proposal concerns reorganization at the government level. The plan provides for reducing and merging agencies, as well as reorganizing or liquidating state-owned companies that are operating at a loss or whose continued existence is no longer justified. The PSD coordinator for this reform is expected to be Marian Neacșu.
Grindeanu specified that the two projects must be completed within a “reasonable timeframe,” by March 2027. The package of reforms will also include drafting the state budget for 2027. Assuming responsibility allows the Government to adopt a bill without an actual parliamentary debate, provided that a motion of no confidence is not submitted and adopted.
