The leader of PNL Iași, Alexandru Muraru, accused the PSD on Tuesday, October 27, of proposing a “facade” administrative reform, without clear criteria and without immediate effects.
Muraru claims that the Social Democrats are not seeking to reform the administration, but are trying to create the appearance of change while consolidating their influence over public institutions. The Liberal says that the project does not include a list of the localities concerned and does not have the support of political partners.
According to the leader of PNL Iași, the PSD has consistently blocked reforms when they targeted ministries, agencies, and prefectures, areas where, in his view, the main sinecures are found.
The Liberal believes that administrative reform must target all levels of the state, not just small communes or local structures. He accused the PSD of using the idea of merging localities to cover up the blocking of changes at the central level and described Grindeanu’s announcement as “an ordinary fake.”
PSD President Sorin Grindeanu announced on Monday, after the meeting of the party’s National Permanent Bureau, that he would propose to Prime Minister Luca Niculescu that the Government assume responsibility for two major reforms, which are expected to be adopted by March 2027: the reorganization of local administration and the restructuring of the government apparatus.
