On November 12, 2025, the coffin with the remains of the ruler Grigore Alexandru Ghica was brought to Iași, after almost 170 years of exile. The ceremony began in Union Square, where the coffin was transferred to a horse-drawn carriage and crossed Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard, being received with military honors.
Descendants of the ruler, government officials, and representatives of local authorities attended the event. The public will be able to pay their respects at the Palace of Culture for 30 days, and afterwards, the remains will be buried next to the Church of Saint Nicholas Domnesc.
