The rains and heat have triggered a massive increase in insects in Bucharest and in other cities.

In Romania, the invasion of insects has become an increasingly acute problem, with the appearance of moths and some species from the Mediterranean region. Aurelian Pintilescu, a biologist, explains that abundant precipitation followed by high temperatures generates humidity, favoring the development of insects. People are facing swarms of insects around the lit bulbs, and opening hardware stores becomes a challenge, with moths and other insects entering homes.

High temperatures allow the expansion of species such as bush crickets and cicadas, including in Bucharest. Additionally, the Asian tiger mosquito, an invasive species, is becoming more frequent. In the capital, authorities have scheduled 14 treatments to combat mosquitoes, but specialists emphasize that their effectiveness also depends on the contribution of the population in reducing breeding sites for insects.
