Despite the heatwave and extreme weather in June 2026, work on Metro Line 6 is progressing, with the structural work on the South Section 1 Mai - Tokyo reaching 71%. The project, which will connect Gara de Nord with Henri Coandă International Airport, has a total length of 14.2 km and includes 12 stations.
Metrorex representatives announced that, although the difficult weather conditions are affecting work on the site, the work continues with adaptations for the safety of the teams. At the stations in the 1 Mai - Tokyo section, progress includes the excavation of over 103,000 cubic meters of earth at the Tokyo station and the pouring of 46,200 cubic meters of concrete. In the North Section, the structural work is completed at a rate of 35%, with varying progress at the Washington, Paris, Brussels, Otopeni, Ion I.C. Brătianu, and Otopeni Airport stations. The project remains on track, with teams working intensively to meet the established deadlines.
