The prefect of Buzău County, Leonard Dimian, declared for Cotidianul that the drone shot down by the Romanian pilot with the help of an F-16 aircraft is presumed to be Russian.
"At the moment, ISU teams are moving to the area. It is said to have fallen between the Padina and Pogoanele areas. We will see on site, after the debris that is to be identified, what its origin was. It is presumed, and I believe this will be certain, that it is a Russian drone. It is in a field. Uninhabited area," said Leonard Dimian, the prefect of Buzău County, according to Cotidianul.
We remind that the drone was initially detected at 09:39, at a distance of approximately 20 km East of Sulina, then it entered national airspace, on the route Sulina-Brăila-Fetești-Buzău.
Fighter aircraft took off at 09:48 and 10:56, and at 11:02 one of the two F-16 fighter aircraft of the Romanian Air Forces that took off from the 86th Air Base in Fetești shot it down.
