The Prahova County Council has requested 32 million lei from the Government's budget reserve fund to secure water sources and increase the safety of the supply system.
This request comes in the wake of the water crisis at the end of last year, which affected over 100,000 residents in the county, and in the context of discussions regarding the interruption of water supply in certain localities for the rehabilitation of the system.
The authorities have initiated legal steps for the issuance of a Government Decision, based on a technical analysis conducted by the regional operator Hidro Prahova, which proposes the development of alternative water sources. The investments target drilling, pumping stations, supply pipelines, storage tanks, and the modernization of existing infrastructure.
The objective is to reduce the vulnerabilities of the current system and ensure the continuity of water supply, considering the recent supply blockages. It is also anticipated that the supply of drinking water will be stopped in eight localities, including the municipality of Câmpina, for maintenance work at the Voila water treatment station.
