In the meeting of the Local Council of Sector 3, three modernization projects for the IOR, Gheorghe Petrașcu, and Titan parks were put to a vote, but were withdrawn after the rapid reaction of civil society. The Civic Initiative Group IOR – Titan contested the plans of Mayor Robert Negoiță, accusing that they would involve concreting and aggressive interventions on green spaces, instead of protecting them. Citizens signed a petition, gathering over 5,000 signatures to stop the projects. Although the withdrawal was considered a victory, activists warned that the projects could reappear on the agenda of future meetings. The project, estimated at 43 million euros, included the rehabilitation of playgrounds, the construction of new facilities, and interventions on green space, but was perceived as a threat to the identity of the parks.
