The Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, announced the launch of a project to modify hunting quotas for game species, in a Facebook post. She explained that, annually, hunting funds assess animal populations and propose hunting quotas, but emphasized that there are cases where assessments are made 'on paper', without proper field verification. Buzoianu mentioned that, although on paper the assessments seem correct, in reality, many of them are superficial, and the formulas used can generate anomalies.
The proposed project will regulate these assessments, stipulating that for species that do not cause damage, hunting funds must demonstrate that they have met the hunting quotas from the last five years if they request higher quotas. This initiative was launched in transparency to improve the management of hunting resources.
