The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, announced the withdrawal of the public utility status of the Association for International Law and International Relations (A.D.I.R.I.) following a Government Decision adopted recently. This decision comes after A.D.I.R.I. has not submitted reports to the state since 2019 and has not published anything in the Official Gazette since 2018, which led to the conclusion that the public utility status was maintained without fulfilling legal obligations.
Țoiu emphasized that the status is not a lifetime title and that the organization can continue to operate, but without the associated privileges. Dominic Fritz, the leader of USR, added that the withdrawal of the status will lead to the loss of certain benefits, including the use of the villa on Kiseleff. Former Prime Minister Adrian Năstase criticized the decision, stating that A.D.I.R.I. was not causing harm to the state and that its status was not a nuisance. This measure was initially announced last week but required formalization through the Government Decision.
