Led by Cseke Attila, the Ministry of Development announced the allocation of 5.6 billion lei for seismic reinforcement of buildings, 49 years after the earthquake of March 4, 1977. The funds, fully provided from the state budget, target reinforcement works for schools, hospitals, public buildings, and residential blocks. Local authorities are responsible for submitting the necessary documentation to access the funding.

So far, the ministry has financed the reinforcement of 201 educational units, 7 buildings in the healthcare system, 177 public buildings, and 33 residential blocks. Cseke emphasized the need to accelerate these investments, especially in Bucharest, where the number of approved projects is low. The ministry has launched an interactive map and an IT platform for assessing buildings exposed to seismic risk, facilitating access to funding and rapid assessment of seismic vulnerability.
