The Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, emphasized the importance of civilizing the beaches in Romania, stating that they should not be compared to the Wild West. Her statement comes in the context of the need to improve infrastructure and services on the coast, to provide tourists with a pleasant and organized experience. Buzoianu stressed that the beaches should be a place for relaxation and fun, but also for respect for the environment, thus promoting sustainable tourism. She pointed out that there should be no cases, like in Năvodari, where a tourist can sunbathe and find illegal pits or illegal gas reservoirs beneath them. The minister emphasized that it is essential to take measures to ensure cleanliness and order on the beaches, so that Romania can become an attractive and civilized tourist destination.
