Horațiu Potra, a mercenary in preventive detention, has requested the court to change his detention regime, arguing that he can no longer endure the conditions of maximum security.
Potra, who is held at Rahova, considers himself wronged, being treated as a dangerous criminal, despite being in preventive custody. The maximum security regime involves isolation, fewer cellmates, and restrictions on the time spent outdoors. Recently, he fainted in front of the judges after approximately 8 hours without food, and doctors intervened to assist him. After this incident, Potra requested through his lawyers not to be brought before the magistrates anymore and asked for milder detention conditions, similar to those of other detainees.
He has been in preventive custody for five months, being accused of attempting to overthrow the constitutional order. The court is set to rule on his request.
